What to Do

It seems as though nothing is working to soothe Kade. Erika has changed herdiet to eliminate all dairy, but today when she went to change him she found blood in his stool again. It has got to be pretty depressing for her to know that no matter what she does, he is going to be allergic.

So tonight at Kraus's we gave him a bottle of Nutramigen. It took a while for him to take it. We changed the nipple on the bottle to be more like his binky, and he finally took some. About 3 ounces... and was happy. I think that is the most important part, that he was happy.

Well, I hope this evening goes good, for Erika's sake.

Grandpa Roth's Birthday

For Grandpa Roth's Birthday we went down to the Yacht Club for the Seafood and Prime Rib buffet. Great Grandma and Grandpa Kraus, Grandma and Grandpa Kraus, Grandma and Grandpa Roth and Marcie were all there. The food was great, but Kade wasn't. Erika had to leave before her food came because he was not very happy to be there. After dinner, I brought Erika's food home for her and Kade was sleeping so all was not lost.

Here are some recent pictures:

4 Shots -- Not me, Kade

Erika had the pleasure of taking Kade for his first shots yesterday. She told me that I have to take him next time. It wasn't that he was that bad, but she just felt bad for him. He was a little cranky last night but not too bad until the middle of the night. (These accounts of the middle of the night are usually secondhand, because the events are relayed to me from Erika). He was up every couple of hours. This kid needs to find a schedule and stick to it.

I noticed today that his hair is really growing. It is blonde, but he is definitely growing some hair.

Cranky Pants

Kade has been a little better lately. He has been sleeping longer through the night and is starting to get a schedule down. The only problem is that he is up until about 12 or 12:30. Hopefully everything is going good for him and the medicine will work for him.

Erika discovered his favorite song, "I've been workin on the railroad". He especially likes the "dina won't you blow" part.

Reflux Redux

After a long weekend of Kade's public outbursts, Erika called the Dr. again and he put him on Zantac. Hopefully this solves his painful cries from around 8 pm - 11. I don't think it is supposed to work right away, but hopefully it is sooner rather than later.

Road Trip

Erika, Brittany and Grandma Kraus took Kade shopping today in Avon Lake. I guess Kade was pretty cranky, which probably means less money was spent:) It was an early night for mama and Kade. They went to sleep pretty early and I sat out on the front porch on the computer. Grandma and Grandpa Roth and Marcie stopped over after they had dinner at the Elk's. It feels a lot cooler on the porch than in the house!

Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully the little guy shows some improvement. I haven't seen too much of him lately and I am starting to miss him.

Allergies

Well, Kade has been cranky the past few days (and nights). Yesterday Erika took him in to see the Doc. She had to bring in one of his dirty diapers for them to check for blood. I guess that means they have an allergy. So now Erika is on a dairy-free diet. I guess that means me too. So no more cheese, ice cream, butter, bread, yogurt or anything that may have any trace of dairy. He seems to be a little better today, and they say he should show about a 40% improvement by this weekend. He is ok though, still gaining weight and everything. We will see in a few days how it goes.
