The life and times of Kade Roth, our mini-blogger.

Kade had his first art class today. It was for 20-36 month olds, and he did pretty well. He was the only child who cried, but hey it's Kade and he likes to draw attention to himself. He made a 2-year old version of Monet's Waterlilies that turned out great. I'll post a picture tomorrow of our budding artist posing next to his masterpiece.
Kade has a new love in his life - chocolate. Kyle and I make a point of keeping his diet healthy and relatively free of sugary treats. He is just as happy to eat an apple as a cookie, but now that has all changed. Check out Kyle's Flickr page to see what I'm talking about.
I have wanted to buy Kade some flip flops for about a month now. When I attempted to try some on him at BabyGap he threw a royal fit, so I decided to give it a rest. Yesterday we were in Toys R Us and they had a cheap pair for like $5 so I gave it another try. Again, he threw a fit and told me to "put them away Mama." I reluctantly obliged yet again. So we went to Nordstrom's to buy a pair of the typical little boy strap on sandals that I honestly don't care for and that cost about $40 freakin bucks, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The sandals there just weren't cute, cool, or worth the money. Just as we were about to leave I look over and see an entire stand of Reef sandals, which are my personal fave (my pair is 4 years old and still look like new) and they are so comfortable-no chafing. I decided to give it another go, and with a little protest he finally let me put them on him. I gushed over how totally cool they were and he actually started smiling and showing them off. Ever since we got them home, he has wanted to wear them - see how persistance pays off.
We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out that Kade is going to have a little sister. We are very happy. Kade is actually the reason we found out. I want him to be able to connect with the baby, and I think the easiest way to do that is to find out the sex so we can give her a name and identity. He looked at her ultrasound picture and said "Sissy," which needless to say sent tears of joy streaming down my face. Although there is no way he can understand exactly what will happen in a few months, he is definitely going to be a great and loving big brother. He even caresses my growing belly and gives his little sister butterfly kisses that melt my heart. I know I'm biased, but he really is such an amazing, loving, and sensitive child.
Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile. As you can see, Kade's birthday party was a huge success. He was so happy to have his cousins play with all of his toys. And we all know how much he loves to be the center of attention.
